Currently we have no hotel Breezand !

In the last century this area was pumped dry and turned into polders. It was originally inhabited by dike workers and emigrants from Gelderland.
At the beginning of this century it appeared that the ground lent itself admirably to the culture of bulbs and the borough is therefore now home to the biggest contiguous area of bulbs in the world, particularly around Breezand. In May dozens of flower mosaics are laid out everywhere in the village and even bridges are decorated.
The ribbon village of Wieringerwaard with monumental farms and houses is built along the polder canal.

The first flowershows take place early in the year. January marks the start with the "Westerkoggeflora bolbloemenshow", this means as much as bulbflower show and it is held in in the village of De Goorn.
At the end of February/ beginning of March the Holland Flower Festival will amaze you with a colourful show of thousands of bulbflowers.

The "lentetuin" (springgarden) in the village of Breezand is unmissable for spotting the newest bred tulips, this also takes place at the end of February/ beginning of March.
This flowershow is combined with a springfair.

Half May to half April is the time to visit the Hortus Bolborum, a museum with breeds of flowerbulbs of times gone by.

The villages of Anna Paulowna and Breezand are in the spotlights in May thanks to their flower fêtes, when the villages are colourfully decorated with flowers and mosaics.

Why Breezand

The roseshow in the "Broekerveiling" (Broeker auction) is well worth visiting and sporting not only roses but a wide range of different summerflowers.
Lilies can be found in abundance in the village of het Zand, where a lilyshow is being organised every year.

The Floralia marks the end of the flowerseason showing mosaics of small dahlias in the village of Nieuwe Niedom during the third weekend of September
