Hotel in Driebergen
Driebergen is a former village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Presently, it is a part of the single town of Driebergen-Rijsenburg.
The oldest reference to ‘Thribergen' dates from 1159, but the origins of the name are not clear. Emperor Charles V was Lord of Driebergen. After the construction of the Langbroekerwetering canal in 1126 a growing number of people moved to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Home- and farmsteads were developed. Country estates gradually expanded at the foot of the hills. The planting of trees on the sandy grounds was the start of a string of summer mansions and game reserves, the ‘Stichtse Lustwarande'. The junction with motorway A12 and the nearby Driebergen-Zeist railway station made Driebergen-Rijsenburg easily accessible.
